Mendes launched the idea after hearing about the death of screen legend Paul Newman from cancer last Friday. A non-profit food company founded by Newman, “Newman's Own,” generated $250 million for charities during his lifetime. “Paul Newman led an admirable life, and one that we can all aspire to,” said Mendes. “We all know people and families hurt by cancer, let Wall Street solve its problems itself.”
